Tight Lines
Set against the breathtaking backdrop of Iceland’s Laxá River, TIGHT LINES is a powerful and intimate documentary that follows four pioneering young women-Andrea, Alexandra, Áslaug Anna, and Arndís Inga- seventh-generation anglers who become the first female fishing guides in the region’s history. Raised in the traditions of fly-fishing by their fathers, they now stand at the crossroads of heritage and crisis.
As they fight for their place in a male-dominated industry, a catastrophic escape of farmed salmon threatens not just the wild salmon they revere, but the future of the river and the way of life they hope to pass on. What begins as a coming-of-age story becomes a passionate call to action, as the young guides and filmmaker Gagga Jónsdóttir expose the ecological and cultural cost of industrial fish farming.
TIGHT LINES is both a celebration of tradition and a timely environmental warning—where the fight to save a species intertwines with the fight for equality, identity, and the soul of a river.
